01) TELL US ABOUT THE BEGINNING OF DRAKON?

The DRAKON band was founded in 2017 in November. Then by the efforts of 2 musicians me Veleyar and Terror was released the first release under the uncomplicated name "First".

After the release I split off from that former DRAKON that represented Terror and went silent for 5 years. During that time Terror released the EP Last Battle of Angels. I can't comment on it, because it's just music without lyrics. I don't understand something like that.

Then in 2021, DRAKON gets a new round of development and awakens.



02) WHAT IS THE FEELING FOR THE CHOICE OF NAME ¨DRAKON ¨?

The name of the band is very simple and understandable. At the same time it has its own special meaning. The meaning is that the DRAKON as a creature represents a symbol of wisdom, longevity, and at the same time, a giant destructive energy, which originates from the Primordial Chaos. Also the DRAKON is a kind of protective symbol. This is the whole essence of the name.

I have seen in the online space that a small percentage make fun of our name, but it does not bother me one bit. There are reasons for this and I have described them above. It makes sense, it's not just a form without content.

I could have renamed the band after the breakup of the original lineup, but I didn't. Since I am, after all, the founder of the band and I decide at what point DRAKON can cease to exist. Let's say DRAKON has not yet shown its potential to the extent it was meant to when it was born.



03) HOW YOU DEFINE YOUR MUSIC?

We define our music as pagan black metal. At the same time in the music itself there are influences of both black and death components. And in the future new full-length album there are also some doom influences.

04) HOW' S THE ACTUAL LINE UP?

About the drummer, Semyon Unholy Father Luzin recorded two albums for us. And now we have a live drummer, we'll introduce him later!


05) WHO WRITES THE MUSIC? AND LYRICS? AND WHERE DO THE LYRIC IDEAS COME FROM?

All the music is composed by me, and Demeter writes the lyrics for the songs.

Demeter: I write all the lyrics. It is in Drakon's touches based on the Russian Rodnoverie pagan tradition, its light and dark sides. The new album, which we are now recording - in general, will be a conceptual work, about Ragnarok from the Slavic mythological position. All ideas are taken exclusively from my head, from my personal philosophy, formed by years of my own thought-fabrication.

07) TELL US ABOUT ALL DRAKON RELEASES?

First is the very first release released in 2017. It is a "test of the pen", a test of skills, an introduction to the world

Awakening is a more meaningful and mature creation, released in 2021. The album is thematically dedicated to the Spiritual Revival of Man and our Motherland, through the prism of worship to the Forces of Nature.

High Tales is a mini album dedicated to the approaching end of the world. And this album is also a prologue to the next full-length album, which is already being finished!

08) DID YOU HAVE PLAYED MANY GIGS?

We haven't had any concerts yet. But we recently put together a full concert lineup. And we start rehearsing on July 1. The first concert is planned in November at one of the festivals in St. Petersburg!


09) WHAT'S THE BLACK METAL FOR YOU?

Black Metal for me is something sacred and spiritual. It's more about content than form. And it's not even about the music. It's more about the idea and the message you're sending. Black metal can exist without music in the form of words, but black metal can't just be music. It's a hymn of spirit, of human greatness, freedom, connection with nature and Gods!

10) HOW'S THE RUSSIAN BLACK METAL SCENE?

Black Metal is gaining a lot of momentum in Russia. At the same time with it there are many worthy groups which create not from the prompts of fashionable tendencies!

Of those that are on my ears - Templum Anima Morti, First Martyr, Temple of Nihil, Merknet, Vspolokh, Varhorn.

Of the better known Grima, Second to Sun, Ultar. These guys have been abroad on more than one tour.


11) TELL US MORE ABOUT EP : HIGH TALES?

Our new mini-work "High Tales" is a lyrically connected concept without plot (which is also connected to the next full-length album), where even the covers of two Scandinavian bands, seemingly thematically distant from each other, are specially woven by us into the general eschatological contour of the whole material.

Through reflections on our people's place in the Universe, our destiny and role in the world, we tell you in our new songs the parable of the impending End of the World, Ragnarok/Armageddon, the destruction or rebirth of all life, while warning you that this outcome is the destiny of our human race and an irreversible inevitability.

We must fight, fight and, if necessary, die, but proudly, with honor, as gods and true warriors. And best of all, to survive, at the cost of much, but to purify ourselves from the filth of the passing circle of time and become stronger, wiser, and brighter.

12) WHAT'RE YOU FUTURE PLANS?

From July through November, we prepare for the band's first live performance. Now we are finishing the next full-length album and plan to release it next year. Until the moment of the new album release we will present one single dedicated to the memory of Vladimir Povetkin, the man who reconstructed such an authentic musical instrument as gusli! And we will also release a very interesting cover!

01) TELL US HOW YOU STARTED THE ¨ONE MAN¨ BAND?

I have always been inspired by solo black metal acts, from Burzum to Judas Iscariot, Leviathan, Xasthur, and modern acts like Panzerwar and Alghol. In 2020 I decided to learn the music I loved so much, and launched my own solo band, Xenomorph with a simple guitar, e-drum-kit, and recording live into a microphone for the ’21 demo.


02) WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO START PLAYING AND MAKING MUSIC?

Since 2001 I have loved the sound of pure death metal, until some tragedies in my life directed me towards darker, more emotionally intense music, finding Norwegian Black Metal. A goal of mine since I was young, not until 35 years old did I buy a guitar and start learning this music.


03) DESCRIBE YOUR CREATIVE PROCESS WHEN YOU WRITE NEW MUSIC?

My creativity has so far been inspired by intense personal loss and depression, combined with science fiction / esoteric influences, I will often translate my emotions through the lens of cinematic fantasy, such, matching my own emotions to those of the fictional characters I grew up being influenced by.

 

04) WHICH INSTRUMENT IS YOUR FAVORITE TO PLAY AND WHY?

Guitar is still my favorite, the universe of nuance, skill, and technique that goes into even the most niche style of playing is of constant intrigue to me, I find mastering a new song to be a sublime, satisfactory experience.


05) WHAT ARE YOUR INFLUENCES?

Satanic & fantasy metal: Morbid Angel, Gorgoroth, Bathory, Darkthrone, Emperor, Darkspace, Watain, and then some varying other genres such as dark synthwave, aggrotech, and film soundtracks / classic renaissance music, opera.


06) WHAT´S THE BLACK METAL IN YOUR LIFE?


Black Metal to me is a musical art form that is celebrating the power of dark and negative emotions, in it’s best form, this music is created without polish or commercial interest, being purely a vehicle for fantasy escapism for those with intellectually challenging life paths.


07) TELL US NOW YOUT FAVE BANDS AND ALBUMS?

Gorgoroth is my favorite metal band, with Antichrist being my their best album. If I had to live with only one metal album for the rest of my life, it would be this one. The power and fury of this music fills me with hope and strength that I may overcome and accomplish all.

09) YOU CAN COMMENT ON THE RELEASES OF XENOMORPH?

I have released a demo, a split album, a full length album, a remaster of the demo, and an EP. These represent 3 years of music progress, with each release showcasing new instruments, production quality, all while under the same philosophical and creative inspiration.


10) TELL US MORE ABOUT EP(2023) ¨ DELUSIONS Ov MORALITY¨?

The 3rd Nihilistic Rustbelt Black Metal Release, Delusions Ov Morality, is a journey beginning with the conception of HR Giger's Alien, and subsequent film quadrilogy interpretations of this concept. The name sake of this music project, Giger's Alien undergoes metamorphosis through the minds and imaginations of each soul, culminating in a truly formless, yet dangerous being that brings inner strength and power to those aligned with it. The tracks on this extended play explore the points of view of different characters in the original four films, connecting the timeless attraction of these cinematic experiences into the eternal individual's own specific realm of existence.


11) HOW WAS THE COVER ART FOR THE EP CREATED ¨DELUSIONS Ov MORALITY¨?

The artwork was created by Rotting Reign, a followup piece to 2022’s Rustwelt. It shows biomechanical forms twisted and morphed together in giger-inspired fashion to communicate dread and anguish associated with industrialized humanity.



12) WHAT IS YOUR IDEOLOGY AND PHILOSOPHY OF LIFE?

My ideology is that of dynamic stoicism. A will to accept that one’s environment requires radical growth and change to survive and bring validation one’s experiences and values. There is a little in the way of meaning and purpose other than doing what is necessary yet only what is in one’s control, to find a will to live.

13) DO YOU PREFER VINYL, TAPE, CD OR DIGITAL FORMAT AND WHY IS THAT?

I currently prefer digital format, because it is the most convenient to listen to new music, but I collect tapes and CD’s to support the underground music scene.


14) HOW`S THE USA UNDERGROUND SCENE?

The USA underground is truly immense in scope. I don’t recall a better time in history to connect and be part of such a thriving community of people that appreciate the heart of black metal. It can even become overwhelming at time, but I stick to my own pocket of underground music these days, but am thrilled that so many young people are coming into the scene, making friends, joining bands, or learning new things about the world.


15) WHAT DO YOU DO IN THE FREE TIME?

I train for bodybuilding, work as a graphic designer, listen to music, or spend time with my family.


16) WHAT`RE YOU FUTURE PLANS?

Future plans for the moment are continuing to build prowess as a musician, learning to better play guitar, produce music better, and get some of my music onto vinyl format.

01) QUANDO E COMO SURGIU O INTERESSE EM APRENDER A TOCAR GUITARRA E A CANTAR? EXPRESSANDO OS SENTIMENTOS ATRAVÉS DA MÚSICA?

Ivan – Inicialmente eu fui por muitos anos apenas fã de música pesada, não tinha interesse em aprender a tocar ou estar numa banda. Mas por volta de 93, comprei um baixo e então comecei a aprender e a tocar. As mudanças para vocalista e depois guitarrista veio justamente para continuar tocando, pois de acordo com a necessidade, eu vou me adequando. Mas meu instrumento de origem e até mesmo preferido, é ser baixista, meus heróis são baixistas.

02) COMO SURGIU A IDEIA DE FORMAR A BANDA SILENT EMPIRE? E COM QUE PROPÓSITOS?

Ivan – A Silent Empire surgiu em 2011, a idéia inicial era voltar a tocar, mas com uma sonoridade mais intrincada, pesada, mesclando várias influências, desde o Heavy Metal tradicional ao Death Black Metal nas sonoridades, timbres, sendo que meus vocais, dessem a amarração ao Death Metal. Eu já havia tocado em inúmeras bandas, desde Thrash Metal é até Black Metal, então queria reunir tudo isso, mas com uma dinâmica diferente e com pessoas mais fáceis de lidar, onde eu tenha prazer em estar.

 

03) PODE NOS CONTAR SOBRE SUA EXPERIÊNCIA NAS BANDAS QUE TOCASTES ANTERIORMENTE A SILENT EMPIRE?

Ivan – Foram várias bandas, mas vou citar 3, que foram as que mais permaneci e criamos mais músicas e shows.

Malice Garden(Vocalista) onde era mais voltado Death Metal, com influencias de bandas como Morbid Angel, Deicide, fizemos inúmeros shows, gravamos material e banda deu uma parada nas atividades em 2003.

Forest of Demons (Black Metal – Baixista / Backing Vocals), entrei em 2002 e fiquei até 2006, nesse período gravamos Cd demo e um Full lenght, que teve ótima aceitação e vários shows, a banda seguiu após minha saída por volta de 2 anos, essa seria a única banda que eu voltaria a tocar, caso tivesse um retorno ás atividades, pois as influencias ( Marduk, Dark Funeral, Celtic Frost) me fazem sentido ainda hoje e a formação era muito estável e tínhamos um bom relacionamento.

Warmagedoom (Death Doom Metal – Baixista/vocalista), aqui as influencias eram as bandas do final de 80 e inicio de 90 do Death Doom Metal, e a fizemos 1 CD demo e dezenas de shows, com muitas mudanças de formação, encerrei as atividades quando meu filho nasceu, 2010.

 

04) COMO DEFINES O SOM DA SILENT EMPIRE?

Ivan – Se fosse definir em um estilo, seria Death Metal. Mas as gamas de sons que se encontram na nossa sonoridade, seria mais correto afirmar que somos uma mistura de Heavy Metal em partes dos riffs, com levadas insanas de bateria, com peso brutal do baixo, bases intrincadas de guitarras, solos velozes, vocais no mais puro Death Metal anos 80/90.

Nosso método de compor é livre, isso não quer dizer que a gente atira pra todos os lados, mas os riffs precisam fazer sentido, precisam se conectar com a identidade da banda, precisam funcionar, a gente precisa sentir que vai ser “foda” tocar aquela parte, senão é descartada. Mas se VC gosta de música pesada, bem executada, com diversas passagens, vai gostar das nossas músicas com certeza.

 

05) QUAIS SÃO AS PRINCIPAIS INFLUÊNCIAS  PARA COMPOR AS MÚSICAS DE SILENT EMPIRE?

Ivan – Minhas influencias são bandas de Death Metal como Benediction, Immolation,  Gorefest,  Massacre, Sinister, Suffocation, Death, Vader, Morbid Angel, Celtic Frost, Slayer, Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, Pentagram, Judas, Venom, Kreator, Destruction,  Dark Angel,  Motorhead, ou seja, é uma vasta influêmcia de bandas e estilos.

06) DE ONDE VEM AS INSPIRAÇÕES PARA ESCREVER AS LETRAS E QUAIS OS TEMAS ABORDADOS?

Ivan – As letras abordam temas como auto conhecimento, crescimento pessoal e cognitivo, auto preservação, anti religião, temas que abordam a vida do sujeito em relação ao mundo. O homem esta em constante mudança, em constante crescimento, em movimento e isso deve ser sempre celebrado ou mostrado o caminho de como percorrer com melhor aproveitamento dos recursos mentais.

  

07) FALE-NOS SOBRE O EP: ¨ HAIL THE LEGION¨ GRAVADO EM 2016. COMO FOI FEITA A PRODUÇÃO, GRAVAÇÃO, ARTE DA CAPA E DIVULGAÇÃO DO MESMO?

Ivan – O EP ‘ Hail the Legions” veio como um objetivo de registrar a primeira etapa da banda, com a formação inicial, 4 musicas que representavam aquele momento. Esse EP nos abriu oportunidades de shows e trouxe também interessados em lançar nosso Debut Album. A gravação foi feita em Porto Alegre, e a arta da capa feito pelo Gil Souza, um conhecido tatuador e artista (Dragão Estudio) aqui do sul de SC, que fez a capa do nosso álbum inclusive.

 

08) E SOBRE O LANÇAMENTO NO ANO SEGUINTE DO ÁLBUM: ¨DEATH RONEMENT ALL ICONS¨?

Ivan – Após o lançamento do EP, mudou a formação, e logo após os shows de divulgação, iniciamos as composições do álbum, e foi bem natural compor e gravar já no ano seguinte. A banda estava coesa e bem preparada pra registrar oque tínhamos de melhor naquele momento, e o material saiu a nosso contento, seja na arte, como na questão musical, produção e divulgação, e contou com selos que nos deram total suporte.

09) COMO FORAM AS APRESENTAÇÕES AO VIVO? QUAIS AS MAIS MEMORÁVEIS?              

Ivan – Fizemos vários shows, difícil mensurar algum, pois todos possuem suas partes ruins e boas, fizemos shows e festivais em aqui em SC e RS, que reforçam que estamos no caminho certo.

  

10) QUE É O DEATH METAL EM SUA VIDA?

Ivan – Death Metal representa o estilo de musica em que sinto livre, me sinto tranquilo e com sede de urrar e trazer experiências aos que me seguem ou estão nos shows, representa mais que só tocar, representa o estilo que posso dizer oque penso. Death Metal pode ser qualquer coisa, pode ser o caminho que escolhi pra falar com o mundo.

  

11) COMO ESTÁ A ATUAL LINE UP?

Ivan – Durante a pandemia, a banda mudou drasticamente sua formação, a dinâmica. Aline passou de guitarrista para baterista, entrando assim Guilherme, e entrando também Harley no baixo, e pela primeira vez, teremos backing vocals. Eu permaneço na minha função de

Vocalista e guitarrista, que é onde me encontro mais confortável. A formação esta sólida, com objetivos definidos e estamos com meta de lançar esse novo material já no inicio do ano de 23, já que estaremos entrando em estúdio em agosto. Estou satisfeito com oque estamos construindo no momento, e isso reflete nas novas musicas, que estaremos testanto nos shows que faremos daqui alguns dias.

  

12) QUE PODE NOS ADIANTAR SOBRE AS NOVAS COMPOSIÇÕES DE SILENT EMPIRE? ALGUM LANÇAMENTO PREVISTO PARA ESTE ANO?

Ivan – As  novas musicas em sua maior parte foram compostas já com a atual formação, então podem esperar sons mais trabalhados, intrincados, técnicos, solos rápidos, e partes de puro peso e vocais grotescos, guturais ao melhor que o estilo pede. 

  

13) DE TODAS AS COMPOSIÇÕES DE SILENT EMPIRE. QUAL MÚSICA  TE IDENTIFICAS MAIS?

Ivan – Dificil escolher, pois todas foram ou tiveram minha participação. Mas eu me identifico mais com musicas que funcionam ao vivo, pois penso que quando se escreve um riff ou uma letra, se pensa nela no formato palco. Algumas funcionam melhor, como a Hail The Legions, Unique and Primordial ou as novas Mountains of Knowledge /  Inverted Path.

  

14) QUAL SUA VISÃO DA ATUAL CENA UNDERGROUND EM CRICIUMA E SANTA CATARINA?

Ivan – O estado possui inúmeros shows e festivais, que é um perfil muito conhecido aqui, e que movimentam muito, criam uma conexão com a cultura no Rock e Metal. Por conta disso, existem muitas bandas, que fazem shows de extrema qualidade, gravam álbuns que passam no teste do tempo. Se eu acho que poderia ser melhor? Acho sim, acho que aqui no estado, existem bandas que poderiam estar no primeiro time, que poderiam estar gravando álbuns e saindo em tour. Falta mais profissionalismo, mais objetivos e  mais oportunidades.

  

15) QUAIS PLANOS PARA O FUTURO?

Ivan – Iremos entrar em estúdio em agosto, para iniciar as gravações do novo álbum, que já esta composto, pronto, os selos parceiros já estão se organizando pra lançar e os planos serão que 2023 possamos fazer o maior número de shows possíveis em divulgação, colocando a nova formação pra funcionar.

16) OBRIGADO PELA ATENÇÃO E APOIO AO  HELL´S FRIENDS ZINE. ALGUMA MENSAGEM FINAL?

Ivan – Gostaria de agradecer ao espaço cedido no Hell’s Friends Zine, e dizer que a musica pesada precisa de espaços, e de pessoas que estejam engajadas em criar e torna-lo forte e promissor novamente, pois potencial existe, basta ser melhor explorado. Hail The Legions e nos encontramos nos shows da Silent Empire, seja adquirindo nossos merchans ou trocando ideías.

 

01) PODERIA NOS FAZER UM BREVE RESUMO DO INICIO DE UNCLEAN SPIRIT?

O Unclean Spirit foi formado em 2020, como gostava de muitas bandas de ondas mais atuais do black metal que misturavam alguns elementos como heavy metal tradicional, punk, hardcore e Oi! com a formula mais ríspida do que chamam de "raw black metal", me interessei em criar algo nesse estilo. Quanto ao nome, foi inspirado na música de mesmo nome do Demoncy, que mesmo sendo outra linha de sonoridade, acho que seria o nome perfeito pro projeto, ainda mais como uma one man band.

02) COMO TU DEFINES O SOM DE UNCLEAN SPIRIT?

Pra ser sucinto, black metal, apesar de sim ter muitos elementos do punk e hardcore, e trabalhos mais recentes que estou compondo terem mais influências como folk, pagan black metal e até alguns elementos psicodélicos, me foco em que a banda ainda tenha essa raiz no black metal sem se perder nos experimentalismos.  

03) DE ONDE VEM AS INSPIRAÇÕES PARA COMPOR AS LETRAS E MÚSICAS ?

De vários lugares, como dito anteriormente, creio que cada álbum  tem uma série de influências, na primeira demo trabalho mais com elementos de punk como Black Flag ou o Oi de bandas como Rixe e Battle Ruins, apesar de já ter elementos de black metal mais tradicional ali, nos quais expandi mais no split com o Fratura. 

Inclusive acho que nesse split "Infinite Suffering / O Ciclo Das Fogueiras" eu consegui a definição do som que buscava com a Unclean Spirit, algo primitivo ,abrasivo mas com seus momentos de melodia e introspecção. Além das temáticas das letras, que tem uma mescla de assuntos pessoais, abstratos e sempre buscando criar uma narrativa muito visual com a combinação de imaginário, letra e música.

Agora com o primeiro álbum, que estou trabalhando enquanto respondo a entrevista, essas influências ampliaram bastante. O álbum transitará pelo rock psicodélico, folk, algumas coisas de post punk e até elementos do prog italiano que fizeram trilhas pra filmes de giallo, enquanto o lado black metal já é bem mais influenciado por bandas da cena de coletivos como Crepúsculo Negro e Les Legions Noires. 

04) QUAIS SUA PRINCIPAIS INFLUÊNCIAS?

No que tange ao Unclean Spirit em geral, Belketre, Ash Pool, Arizmenda, Akitsa, White Medal, Arts, Grinning Death's Head, Calvary, Cirrhus, Isengard e Darkthrone. Além de algumas coisas do catálogo de selos como Korpsand, Fallow Field e Tour De Garde. Mas fora do aspecto do black metal, Violeta de Outono, Battle Ruins e City Hunter.

05) QUAIS SUAS BANDAS E ÁLBUNS PREFERIDOS?

São muitas bandas e muitos álbuns pra lembrar, então vou mandar os que me vierem em mente agora.

Bandas: Integrity, GISM, Celtic Frost, Blasphemy, Incantation, Strain, Starkweather, Today Is The Day, Unruh, Thin Lizzy, Killing Joke, Amebix, Bolt Thrower, Budos Band, Yoshiko Sai, Teitanblood, entre muitas outras que certeza que esqueci.

06) QUAL SUA VISÃO DO UNDERGROUND NA  ATUALIDADE ?

É uma visão complexa, principalmente no que se remete a cena nacional, de um lado com as redes sociais vejo que se criou uma grande quantidade de páginas focadas no "underground", mas ao mesmo tempo é bizarro pois muitas dessas páginas falam do mesmo grupo de 10 a 30 bandas, então fica num ciclo ecoado de bandas semelhantes, sem novidades, sem uma nova cena ou grupo de artistas. Além de vermos também bandas que notavelmente querem ter um sucesso maior e mainstream, porém de maneira independente (que é possível e se tem vários casos aí), porém rola aquela tentativa emocional de usar o termo "apoiar o underground" pra tentar apelar pra futuros ouvintes seguirem a banda, o que acho engraçado porque no underground nem todo Beherit quer ser o Behemoth, se é que me entende. 

Porém, do outro lado da moeda, acho que com a pandemia e ausência de shows, muitas bandas que não chamariam atenção antigamente, começaram a ter uma visibilidade. Sejam elas projetos de estúdio, one man bands ou bandas cujo som é tão diferente que não tem uma cena ou rolê específico pra tocar, conseguiram visibilidade lá fora, só pra citar alguns exemplos: Papangu, Kataayra, Trance Of The Undead, Fosso, Obsoletion, Crimson Tower, Blasphemaniac, Antimonument, Necrogosto são algumas das várias bandas brasileiras que conseguiram visibilidade em selos gringos e tem interesse deles em se lançar material fisico, enquanto aqui no Brasil esse interesse foi muito diminuto. Mas entendo que os motivos dessa diferença é porque a geografia do país e também termos uma cultura que favorece bandas com uma agenda de shows constante a uma banda que só grava música e lança esporadicamente.

Com os prós e contras, acho que nesses últimos anos, muita coisa interessante tem acontecido no que se refere ao cenário underground do país, a convergência musical tem criado artistas e bandas vezes cada vez mais originais e interessantes. O que se esperar após o retorno do ciclo normal de shows, não sei, creio que haverá uma efervescência de bandas e shows e os resultados disso só o tempo dirá.

07) COMENTE SOBRE OS TRABALHOS JÁ LANÇADOS ?

A demo auto intitulada vejo como isso, um lançamento onde se testa idéias e se busca um rumo pro som, mas já se vê  rumos de onde a banda iria. Apesar de ter um ou outro caso de músicas que parecem mais um hardcore black flag do que algo black metal, nota-se ali os elementos que viriam retornar no split com o Fratura.

No split com o Fratura já houve duas grandes mudanças: O foco geral do som da banda e também as letras em português, que foi um desafio pessoal pra mim, pois queria tentar voltar a escrever em português e nunca tinha escrito letras nessa linha na nossa lingua. No final o resultado me agradou bastante, algumas das minhas músicas e composições prediletas estão nesse split. 

08) ALÉM DE UNCLEAN SPIRIT TU TOCAS EM OUTRAS BANDAS? OU TEM OUTROS PROJETOS?

Olha, várias bandas, mas muitas delas ainda em estágio embrionário e composição,  mas as que estão em vista hoje e ativas são: 

Vandreren - Projeto meu com o Fred (músico piracicabano prolífico e dono de projetos como Draped Urn, Mankeulv e Froihov), é um projeto mais experimental, apesar do primeiro EP ser uma mistura de doom, post punk e black metal, o projeto vai para vários outros lados. Nosso primeiro EP foi lançado pela Cianeto Discos e estamos produzindo material  novo também.

Vegas - Banda internacional, faço as composições na guitarra e baixo, programo e toco bateria as vezes e os vocais e outros detalhes são cuidados pelo T., a banda ja tem um longo histórico de 2 décadas e embarquei na banda desde 2016/17

Egregora Adversarial - É um coletivo no qual eu e outros amigos lançamos alguns projetos e bandas, os gêneros variam (vai do industrial ao black metal, free jazz e crust), por enquanto minha única contribuição ali é o Dead Stare, projeto solo de melodic death metal com elementos de punk, no qual toquei todos os instrumentos. Mas tem outros lançamentos vindouros pra vir na próxima temporada de lançamentos do coletivo.

Também trabalho com algumas artworks e colagens no Rudimentary Light e as vezes trabalho com mixagem e masterização, entre alguns dos trabalhos teve o debut da banda de heavy doom Crimson Tower e também alguns dos vindouros trabalhos do Cursed Excruciation.

01) QUANDO PERCEBEU SEU INTERESSE EM EXPRESSAR SEUS SENTIMENTOS ATRAVÉS DA MÚSICA?

O interesse em expressar os sentimentos através da música surgiu desde criança, ao cultuar o abstrato – em formas diferentes de contar histórias, brincar e também de pensar.

Dentro da música extrema, comecei a me expressar aos 17 anos, quando comecei a gravar covers de vocal. Essa manifestação artística se fez presente num momento de externalização de sentimentos intensos, meio a conflitivas existenciais que acompanham a idade. A música cumpre um papel fundamental no autoconhecimento, na expressão e no sentido da vida.

 02) COMO SURGIU A IDEIA DE MONTAR A BANDA ÏNSANITY SEAS¨?

 A ideia surgiu no segundo semestre de 2020, quando compus a introdução do primeiro single, “Fever Dreams”, no violão. Pensei que seria ideal para uma música de Death, Doom ou Black Metal. Pensei sobre o tema que a letra dessa música abordaria e cheguei à conclusão que, ao escrever sobre demônios ou sobre tortura/escatologia, faria com que o projeto adentrasse uma caixa, junto de incontáveis outros. Pensei em trabalhar com temáticas e assuntos diferentes e não muito retratados, então surgiu a ideia de reverenciar a literatura do escritor HP Lovecraft. Por volta de março de 2021, escrevi a letra de nosso primeiro single e então, junto de minha namorada, Love, começamos a organizar e dar vida ao projeto.

 03) COMO DEFINE O SOM DE INSANITY SEAS?

 O som da Insanity Seas se encaixaria no gênero Death Metal ou Sludge Metal – por conta da bateria mais Doom.

O definiria, em sua sonoridade, como o transcorrer das obras de HP Lovecraft, trabalhando com elementos do agressivo, do sombrio e do misterioso.

 04) QUAIS SUAS PRINCIPAIS INSPIRAÇÕES PARA COMPOR AS MÚSICAS E LETRAS?

 Minhas inspirações para com as letras, são guiadas pela literatura do escritor HP Lovecraft. Seus contos misturam elementos de terror, mistério, ficção científica, rodeando seu núcleo principal que está no imutável e ancestral. Esta estética particular e única, denominada “Horror Cósmico”, descreve o contato humano com criaturas divinas, monstruosas, ancestrais que governam nosso mundo, mas que estão adormecidas. Nos veem como seres irrelevantes e guiam destinos cruéis. Logo, se trabalha com o medo do desconhecido e forças e influências para além do homem.

Na parte instrumental, minhas inspirações estão nos vocalistas George “Corpsegrinder” Fisher, da banda Cannibal Corspe, e Nergal, da banda Behemoth – valorizando o gutural na região grave. Enquanto guitarrista, me proponho a fazer algo bastante autoral, trabalhando em escalas e afinações graves (Dó), e sempre fazendo palhetadas para baixo.

 05) SOBRE O QUE ABORDA AS LETRAS DO INSANITY SEAS?

 As letras se inspiram e reverenciam a literatura de HP Lovecraft em seu Horror Cósmico, retratando o medo ancestral e o medo do desconhecido, tanto através da letra, quanto da sonoridade.

 06) QUAIS SUAS BANDAS E ÁLBUNS PREFERIDOS?

 Dentro do Death Metal, meus álbuns favoritos são: Sodom – In the Sign of Evil (1984); Cancer – To the Gory End (1990); Obituary – Cause of Death (1990); Deicide – Deicide (1990); Cannibal Corpse – Tomb of the Mutilated (1992); Damnation – Rebel Souls (1996); Behemoth – The Satanist (2014). Adentrando o Death Metal nacional: Sepultura – Bestial Devastation (1985); Sextrash – Sexual Carnage (1990).

 07) QUAL SUA OPINIÃO SOBRE A CENA UNDERGROUND NO RS?

 Em minha opinião, a cena underground no RS está passando por um momento de ascensão, com bandas muito experientes lançando materiais cada vez mais profissionais. Bons exemplos seriam os trabalhos Carcinosi – Resumption (2019), Bloody Violence – Host (2019), Exterminate – Pray for a Lie (2019).

 08) TU TOCAS EM OUTRAS BANDAS E PROJETOS? QUAIS?

 Atualmente, além do projeto Insanity Seas, faço parte das bandas de Black Metal Würmland e Baphometr, as quais eu toco baixo e teclado.

 09) COMO É A EXPERIÊNCIA EM TOCAR EM OUTRAS BANDAS? COMO CONCILIA O TEMPOS COM SUAS ATIVIDADES PESSOAIS?

 A experiência é muito boa, todos os membros de ambas as bandas são bons amigos e nossa relação é sempre muito pacífica e produtiva. Nossa conexão criativa e musical é bastante intensa.

Com relação ao tempo, os projetos de Black Metal ocupam o final de semana, em ensaios e em novas criações. Já a Insanity Seas, é um projeto que estou constantemente compondo e desenvolvendo novas ideais com a minha namorada, Love.

 10) OUVINDO A MÚSICA PROMO: FEVER DREAMS  NOTEI OS RIFFIS BEM SOMBRIOS E COM BASTANTE EXPRESSÃO DE MELANCOLIA.. CONTE-NOS MAIS SOBRE ESTA PROMO E COMO FOI FEITA A GRAVAÇÃO E PRODUÇÃO INDEPENDENTE?

 A gravação do single ocorreu em Estrela – RS, no estúdio do meu amigo Júnior Sessi, que já trabalha comigo há anos. O baixo fora gravado pelo meu amigo Carlos Caraumar, que foi o baterista da minha antiga banda “The Woodpeckers”, em 2015. A guitarra, voz e bateria foram gravadas por mim.

O baixo utilizado fora um fretless gravado em linha com efeitos de oitavador e drive. A guitarra fora uma Les Paul Studio da Gibson gravada em duas pistas – uma em um amplificador valvulado, e outra em um transistor. A voz fora gravada em um microfone cardioide. A bateria fora eletrônica, gravada em MIDI.

Os riffs que soam melancólicos são frutos da afinação grave (Dó), e foram feitos pensando em transmitir sentimentos retratados em contos do Lovecraft – atmosfera soturna, mistério, agressividade, intensidade.

 11) QUAIS SÃO PLANOS PARA O FUTURO?

 No primeiro semestre de 2022, nos organizamos para lançar nosso primeiro EP, intitulado “Cthulhu Shall Rise”, que irá conter 4 músicas. Estará disponível em todas as plataformas de streaming.

Pretendemos também organizar shows de lançamento por Porto Alegre, performando todas as tracks do EP.

TERATOMA

Teratoma was formed in early 1993 in Barcelona, ​​the first official demo came out in 1996 under the title “... From inside” and in 1998 the first full-lenght of the band “The terato-genus reborn” was recorded by the label Fleshfeast, in the year 2002 a new album is registered that does not get to be published since the band is not satisfied with the result after this the band decides to end its life.

2015 marks a new beginning for the band, returning in 2017 with the ep “In the inside ... Reborn the flesh” released this time by the Slovak label Immortal Souls, after a hard work on new material Teratoma signed by Base Record Production for the edition of the second full-lenght “Overtures of the flesh” that will be released 30th December 2019.

01) TELL US ABOUT THE BEGINNING OF TERATOMA?

Hi, Hell's friendship Zine brothers. Teratoma was formed long tome ago...at the beginning of the year 93 in Barcelona. ​​The band was made up by Titopsy, Juanjo, Roque and Jose David. Shortly, months after, Juanma joined as a second guitar player, and Juanjo started playing bass. It took us a long time to edit the first demo official "... from inside" in 1996....

02) COMMENT ABOUT YOUR INFLUENCES?

Our influences have been the same since we got involved in Teratoma; Bolt Thrower, is one of the main ones; Death, Immolation and many more bands from the early 90's, both American and European. At one time we were more influenced by the American brutal death metal bands such as Suffocation Cannibal Corpse, but now it has been balanced more with the sound of European bands. And not only death metal bands but we also feel very influenced by Thrash bands like Sodom, Protector and also grindcore bands from those same years.

03)  HOW`S THE ACTUAL LINE UP?

Currently the line-up has been stable since 2016, Juanma and Juanjo on guitar, Titopsy on vocals, Sergi pounding on drums and Joxe on Bass.

04) WHO WRITES THE MUSIC? LYRICS? AND WHERE DO THE LYRIC IDEAS COME FROM? 

We compose the music together, we all contribute ideas, riffs, song structures etc. The lyrics are all written by our vocalist Titopsy. The topics are very wide varying from lyrics inspired by old horror films to topics that speak of the abuse of the Christian church, religion and also topics related to the darkest history of mankind.

05) WHAT MERCHANDISE DO YOU STILL HAVE AVAILABLE?

We have our works available, both the first CD "The Terato-genus reborn" and the EP "In the inside ... Reborn the flesh" and of course our last album to date "Overtures of the flesh" in cd and digital formats.

And several models of t-shirts, of "overtures of the flesh" and a special model of "In the inside ..." with another cover. The t-shirts that came out with the EP are totally sold out.

06) COMMENT ABOUT THE ep “In the inside...Reborn the flesh” 2017.


That work is very special for us, is our return after many years From Our split-up información 2000 , it was edited by Immortal souls productions from Slovakia. Unfortunately, a few weeks ago the owner passed away. It is made up of five songs plus an intro and we are very happy with the reception it had and the very good reviews that reached us. The sound of this record is in vein of old School death metal without lesser grindcore influences.


07) TELL US MORE ABOUT CD “Overtures of the

 flesh”.

"Overtures of the flesh" is our second complete album, this time it was released on a label in our country, Base record production, and, for us, it is our best work, both regarding production and song composition. Perhaps the fact that it came out at the beginning of The pandemic and the fact that we have not yet been able to present it live has slowed us down, but the criticisms received are better than those we obtained for the previous work. Since our return we continue with an old school sound as our previous work, it has eight songs and it was recorded at Axtudios in Barcelona.


08) TELL US ABOUT THE UNDERGROUND SCENE IN BARCELONA?

The scene in Barcelona regarding bands is very powerful and full of quality, there are more and more bands in different extreme music, black m

etal, death etc..

09) WHAT`RE YOU FUTURE PLANS?


Well, our plans for the future are to finish preparing the songs for the new album of the band that will be released again by Base record production next year, 2022; still without an exact date of release. But we will soon inform the study entry date, and be able to carry out some shows also within next year.
