DARKAT YUUYAMIHN

01) When and How Did the Idea of Getting Serious About Music arose?

I was always interested in music, but I never had instruments, for financial limitations. When I came to live in Porto Alegre (2013) I got my first guitar, and at that time I was trying to compose some black metal riffs ...
But it was not until the beginning of 2015 that I started producing some songs (very amateur and experimental), and in May of the same year I released a joke album, Daldrorr. The idea of making my own songs seemed very fun and in 2015 I launched 4 albums as a hands-on experience.

02) WHAT DEFINES YOUR BAND'S SOUND?

I think Darkat Yuuyamihn's sound takes a lot from atmospheric black metal and "blackgaze", but I also have a lot of post-rock, hardcore and melodic metal influences.

03) WHAT IS THE REAL FEELING OF THE CHOOSING OF THE BAND NAME AND ITS MEANING?

: The name "Darkat Yuuyamihn" is a rather dumb word game indeed, "Dark at Yuuyami", Yuuyami is a word of Japanese origin that I always found beautiful , It reads "The darkness of the twilight".

04) WHERE DO THE INSPIRATIONS TO COMPOSE YOUR SONGS AND LYRICS COME FROM?

The main inspiration of my music and lyrics in the most recent works. it's the physical and mental exhaustion of living, working, studying, this burden of having to keep walking even totally wrecked. When I started the band I was still in high school dealing with depression, so that was the biggest inspiration for composing and writing lyrics.

05) WHAT ARE YOUR BANDS AND PREFERRED ALBUMS?

A hard question really
Csejthe - La Mort Du Prince Noir
Oathbreaker - Eros / Anteros
Alcest - souvernis dun Autre Monde
Envy - Insomniac Doze
Show me a Dinosaur - S / T
This Will Destroy You - S / T

06) COULD YOU GIVE US A SHORT COMMENT ABOUT ALREADY RELEASED WORKDS?

I think these are pieces of music that makes connection with anyone who is feeling tired and broken by life.

07) WHAT DOES ATMOSPHERIC BLACK METAL REPRESENTS IN YOUR LIFE?

Atmospheric Black Metal is the armor that has continued to carry my half dead body half alive for years.
Bands like Wolves in the Throne Room, Fen, Austere, Lantlos, Agalloch have made my life less monotonous.

08) WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS ON WHAT COMES AFTER OUR DEATH?

I believe that our brief life ends without postmortem.

09) WHAT ARE YOUR IDEAS AND PHILOSOPHIES?

I consider myself Existentialist, contrary to the nihilism of many "metalheads" out there, and I am Anarchist. At the moment I am not part of any collective or group for lack of time (I go to college and internship) ) but I try my best to help the people on the sidelines by participating in projects or helping with food, clothing and books.

10) DO YOU PLAY IN ANY OTHER BANDS? TELL US ABOUT THIS EXPERIENCE?

I play in another thrash band called Nuclear Power, we released a demo and probably won't release anything for a while because all the members are so busy with work / college.

11) HOW WERE THE PRODUCTION OF YOUR ALBUMS?

Fully home production, most of the tracks are one takes or improvisations.
I use a free tool called TuxGuitar to write drums and some riff ideas and record it all on the computer, then "mix" it on Audacity and post on bandcamp. I don't know much about production and mixing, but I think for black metal it is not necessary.

12) HOW CAN PEOPLE BUY AND CONTACT YOUR MERCHANDISE?

I currently have no merchandise.

13) DID YOU COME TO WATCH THE LORD OF CHAOS MOVIE BASED ON THE NORWEGIAN SCENE? WHAT DID YOU THINK OF THIS MOVIE?

I haven't seen it yet, but from what I've heard of friends and acquaintances seems to be a very romanticized and caricatured view of what happened in the 1990s.

14) WHAT IS YOUR VIEW OF UNDERGROUND SCENE HERE IN RIO GRANDE DO SUL?

I know more of the hardcore / punk scene here in Rio Grande do Sul, I don't know much about the metal scene, the little I heard doesn't hold me much. I know they tend to use the same clichés, riff ideas, have little dynamism in the composition and caricature lyrics.

15) I particularly liked all albuns I heard. BUT THE MUSIC "HATE" GOT MY VERY ATTENTION. WHAT INSPIRED THIS SYMPHONY

Hate is a very crude song that was inspired by hatred, this hatred related to religious dogma and not to the people who follow it, which I have for Abrahamic religions. The song contains excerpts from an interview with Varg Vikernes talking about Christian invasions in pagan countries.

16) WHAT PLANS FOR THE FUTURE

I am recording an 8 track split with a friend of mine who wants to start a black metal band, at the moment I released a demo on the bandcamp containing a track.

17) THANK YOU FOR YOUR ATTENTION AND SUPPORT FOR HELL'S FRIENDS ZINE? ANY FINAL MESSAGE?

I would like to thank you, Marcos, for giving me the space to talk about my music.
