01) TELL US HOW THE BAND STARTED?

Since I started playing guitar in my teenage years I had the idea of one day writing my own songs and having a band to play them. Around 2010 I started writing musicunder the name IMPALEMENT however never published anything.

In 2019 the time felt right to start writing a full album and go to a professional studio to record and finalize it. After the release of the debut album in 2020 I found musicians that were willing to join this journey and perform the songs on the stage.

 

02) WHAT ARE YOUR INFLUENCES?

My influences are coming from what I am listening to. I only listen to what I call "handmade music", meaning all sorts of Rock and Metal but NO electronic stuff etc.

 

03) WHAT´S THE ACTUAL LINE UP?

When it comes to live concerts, I am currently working with Raptus on second guitar, Nekroking on bass and Frostbitten on drums. In the studio so far I worked with my old friend Torturer who played drums for both albums.

05) TELL US ABOUT THE ¨THE IMPALEMENT (FULL-LENGTH) -2020?

It's my first album...a prototype of what I want to create with IMPALEMENT. Part of my life and a time capsule of what was possible at that time...rough and brutal!

06) TELL US MORE ABOUT ¨THE DAWN OF BLACKENED DEATH¨ (FULL-LENGTH) : 2023?

In my opinion the album marks a clear step forward when it comes to the production: More experience and work on details. This time I was able to work with one of my all time favorite producers Andy Classen on Mix and Mastering.

Probably also a step forwards in cristallizing out what could be the essence of IMPALEMENT. A more sophisticated sound without losing intensity and the trademarks of IMPALEMENT!

Release will be this friday, 27th of October 2023. Two single songs have already been released ("Legio Nihil" and "Dawn Of Blackened Death", check them out!)

 

07) WHAT THE BLACK METAL SCENE IN SWITZERLAND?

I guess it is pretty small and therefore people from the scene seem to be more connected with each other. However I can't really tell since I am not really involved into the scene and prefer a more secluded life.

  

08) WHAT´S IS DE BLACK/DEATH METAL IN YOUR LIFE?

If you mean what's the meaning of Black Death Metal music in my life, it's a constant! Music surrounds me every day and I really like intense music that can be hard to fit into a certain genre.

However Metal in general for me is way more than just music...it's my culture and plays a huge role in my personal philosophy...can't live without it!

  

09) TELL US NOW YOUR FAVE BANDS AND ALBUNS?

Oh too many haha. As many people pointed out correctly I am a huge fan of Belphegor, a band that in addition played a huge role when it comes to my first steps as a musician.

On the other side I really prefer old school Metal...heavy and extreme stuff! Good old stuff like Maiden, Priest etc ... they have become "Classics" for good reasons you know...fucking BRILLIANT!

  

10) DO YOU PREFER VINYL, TAPE, CD OR DIGITAL FORMAT AND WHY IS THAT?

Definitively vinyl! Since I became able to buy music I bought vinyl! My first vinyl record was Bathory's Hammerheart, if I remember correctly.

  

11) WHAT ARE YOUR FUTURE PLANS?

Fighting my way forward with IMPALEMENT! The musical landscape and the industry have changed so it's difficult to build a career with an "old school" approach. However I believe in what I am doing and there is still alot, worth fighting for!
